"Better" expense creation

Feature Request

Having to manually input the negative to a number to make it an expense takes out the meaning of Types of Categories at least when creating transactions.

If I already made a Category an Expense, I would like for the app to automatically turn it into a negative value when selecting the category. Incomes are not as common of a transaction as Expenses so I think this would improve QoL overall.

    An idea onto this- what if we could just always input positive numbers for every transaction?

    What if we could add a drop down field when you create a new transaction? That way the system would know wether to record something as a positive or negative when it comes to reporting

    Field examples:

    • Income

    • Refund

    • Expense

    • Transfer funds

    Yes, great suggestion. This should be a relatively easy lift and makes a lot of sense.

    Category types currently impact how categories display in drop downs, dashboard charts, and reports, but I agree they should also help default whether a transaction is entered as a positive or negative.

    We’ll dig into this a bit more and get it scheduled on the roadmap.
