"Better" expense creation

Having to manually input the negative to a number to make it an expense takes out the meaning of Types of Categories at least when creating transactions. If I already made a Category an Expense, I would like for the app to automatically turn it into a negative value when selecting the category. Incomes are not as common of a transaction as Expenses so I think this would improve QoL overall.

Setup transfers for both involved accounts

It would be nice to have a way to create a Transfer transaction between accounts in which I can specify a Sending (From) and Receiving (To) account so that I don’t need to create two separate transactions. Say I use my credit card and pay it with my debit account, it would be nice to Add money to the credit account while Substracting the same amount from my debit account at the same time.

Local desktop version

Create a local desktop version of FreeBudget. Feature purposes: The user's data is stored only on their own device, for maximum security. (Syncing optional) Exposure of database (as SQL or files) enables advanced scripting, editing, and integration with other workflows. Possible technical challenges: If database backend is tabular, separating out a single user. Making API endpoints for backend services (such as Stripe). Budget Wins & Streaks

Add progress tracking to FreeBudget with streaks and milestone badges that recognize consistent budgeting activity. Users could earn badges for actions like importing transactions, reviewing spending, staying under budget, categorizing transactions, or completing a month of budgeting. The goal is to make progress more visible, encourage consistency, and give users small wins as they build better money habits.

Custom Category & Account Sorting

Add the ability to manually rearrange the order of categories and accounts instead of only sorting them alphabetically or by default order. This would allow users to organize their FreeBudget setup in the way that makes the most sense to them. For example, users could place their most-used categories or accounts at the top, group related accounts together, organize categories around their personal budgeting workflow, or control how items appear in the Dashboard, Reports, and Budget tabs.

Category Groups for Reports

Add the ability to organize categories into higher-level groups, such as Housing, Utilities, Transportation, Health & Fitness, etc., and display those groupings in reports. Currently, reports show categories in a flat list. This feature would allow users to create or assign categories to groups so the income and expense report can be viewed in a more organized, management-report style format, while still keeping the default experience simple for users who do not need grouping.
